Sergeant Steven Francis Gaughan, a dedicated officer with the Prince George's County Police Department, tragically lost his life on June 21, 2005, at the age of 41. On that fateful day, Sergeant Gaughan and two other officers were conducting a routine traffic stop near the intersection of Route 197 and South Laurel Drive in Laurel, Maryland.
