In the early moments of a Sunday morning, the quiet of a Laurel, Maryland apartment building was shattered by the sound of gunfire. On July 7, 2024, shortly after midnight, police were called to the 13000 block of Mistletoe Springs Road where they discovered a grim scene. Inside the building, 21-year-old Desmond Lowe of Germantown, a Black/African American male, was found suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the immediate response from emergency services, Mr. Lowe was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another adult male was also found with gunshot wounds and was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit is leading the investigation into the fatal shooting. At this time, authorities are actively working to determine a motive for the attack and to identify any potential suspects involved in the incident.

As the investigation continues, no arrests have been made in connection with the death of Desmond Lowe. In an effort to gather more information, a reward of up to $25,000 has been offered for any tips that lead to an arrest and indictment of the person or persons responsible for this act of violence. Detectives are urging anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to come forward and assist them in bringing closure to the family of Desmond Lowe and ensuring that justice is served. The case remains open and is an active homicide investigation.
