In the early hours of March 12, 2024, a recording session at the Trackhouse studio in Laurel, Maryland, turned deadly. Inside the studio, located in the 600 block of Lafayette Avenue, a multiple shooting erupted at approximately 1:34 AM, forever altering the lives of those present. Among the victims was 21-year-old Quincy P. Green, Jr., a male resident of Washington, D.C.
Laurel Police Department officers responded to reports of the shooting and discovered a chaotic scene.
Green was found suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency medical aid was rendered at the scene before he was transported to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he succumbed to them. Another man, 23-year-old Louis B. Rackett, also from Washington, D.C., was pronounced dead at the scene. A third individual was also injured in the shooting and managed to transport themselves to an area hospital for treatment.
At the time of the incident, it was reported that nine people were inside the recording studio, which was known to be open for bookings at all hours. The circumstances that led to the gunfire remain under investigation, and authorities have not yet publicly identified a motive or any suspects. The Laurel Police Department is actively investigating the double homicide and has urged anyone with information or who may have witnessed the event to come forward. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with the deaths of Quincy Green and Louis Rackett. The community has been left in shock by the violent incident, as the families of the victims grapple with their sudden and tragic loss.
