In the autumn of 2018, a young man's life was abruptly cut short on a sidewalk in Laurel, Maryland. On the afternoon of Wednesday, October 24, Prince George's County police responded to a call for a shooting in the 13000 block of Laurel Bowie Road. Upon arrival at approximately 3:30 p.m., they discovered 19-year-old Hassan Lucky unresponsive, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives immediately began an investigation, stating that they did not believe the act was random.
The investigation into the death of the male teenager progressed over the following month. Law enforcement officials worked to uncover a motive and identify those responsible for the fatal shooting. Their efforts culminated in the arrests of three individuals in connection with the homicide. The suspects were identified as 20-year-old Dream Edwards and 18-year-old Abdul Kandeh, both of Laurel, and 18-year-old Ramon Bowman of Glen Burnie.
Authorities reported that the shooting was not a random act of violence but rather the result of an ongoing dispute between the suspects and Hassan Lucky. Following their apprehension, Edwards, Kandeh, and Bowman were all charged with first-degree murder and other related charges. They were subsequently taken into the custody of the Department of Corrections. For information leading to an arrest and indictment in the case, a reward of up to $25,000 had been offered.
