Do you know who killed 23 year old Tyrone Archer Jr in 2015?
On a Thursday afternoon in Laurel, Maryland, the life of Tyrone Archer Jr., a 23-year-old Black male, was cut short by gunfire. The incident occurred around 3:45 p.m. on January 22, 2015, in the 8200 block of Imperial Drive. When officers from the Prince George's County Police Department arrived at the scene, they found Archer outside on the sidewalk, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Archer was a resident of Laurel Walk Way, not far from where the fatal shooting took place.

In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, police began an intensive investigation into the homicide. Detectives and evidence technicians worked the scene to gather evidence and try to establish a motive for the killing. The day after the incident, police canvassed the community, passing out Crime Solvers flyers in the hope of generating leads from the public. A reward of up to $25,000 was offered for any information that would lead to an arrest and indictment in the case.

Despite the efforts of law enforcement, the investigation into Tyrone Archer Jr.'s death has not led to any arrests. In the initial days of the investigation, police had not identified any suspects, and the motive behind the shooting remained unclear. Years have passed since Archer's death, and the case has grown cold. As of late 2022, his murder remains unsolved, a lingering tragedy for his family and the Laurel community. The investigation highlighted the difficulties law enforcement can face in obtaining community cooperation to solve violent crimes.
