In the quiet suburban neighborhood of Laurel, Maryland, a sudden act of violence shattered the peace on a Saturday afternoon. On August 27, 2011, 52-year-old Glenn Albert Herzog was found inside his residence on Bignonia Drive, having suffered from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency services were called to the scene around 1:00 p.m., but it was too late. Herzog was pronounced dead at his home.
The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed towards an acquaintance of the victim.
Within hours, a suspect was identified, and later that same evening, 56-year-old Jack Sherman Rosenberg of Warrenton, Virginia, turned himself into the authorities. The motive for the tragic incident appears to have stemmed from an argument between the two men.
Following his surrender, Rosenberg was charged with first-degree murder for his role in Herzog's death. He was subsequently remanded to the Department of Corrections in Upper Marlboro and held without bond.
