In a tragic turn of events on a December afternoon in 2016, 20-year-old Kaiyon Stanfield, a male resident of Columbia, Maryland, was fatally shot in what police described as a drug-related incident in Laurel. The shooting occurred on December 18 in the 9400 block of Woodsong Court, where Stanfield and his 21-year-old cousin, Khalil Stanfield, had arranged to sell a quarter-pound of marijuana.
