In the early hours of March 12, 2024, a violent altercation at a recording studio in Laurel, Maryland, claimed the life of 23-year-old Louis B. Rackett of Washington, D.C. The incident, which also resulted in the death of another man and injuries to a third, unfolded at approximately 1:34 a.m. in the 600 block of Lafayette Avenue.
Laurel Police Department officers responded to a report of a shooting and discovered Rackett and 21-year-old Quincy P.
Green, Jr., also of Washington, D.C., suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the men was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. A third victim managed to transport himself to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Investigators believe the deadly shooting stemmed from an argument between two groups at the Trackhouse Studios. The Laurel Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division is actively investigating the double homicide. As of now, no arrests have been announced, and the police have not publicly identified any suspects.
