Jelan Moreira, a 29-year-old resident of Queens, NY, tragically lost his life on August 26, 2018. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, around 5:30 a.m., as Moreira was walking through a courtyard within the Ravenswood Houses complex in Long Island City. According to video surveillance footage, Moreira was followed by Shahid Burton, along with an unidentified accomplice.
