A quiet Sunday evening in Queens turned deadly on July 18, 2021, ending the life of 25-year-old Aldair J. Melchor. A resident of College Point, Melchor was standing with a woman on 132nd Street near 32nd Avenue in Flushing at approximately 7:20 p.m. when the tranquil scene was shattered by gunfire. A black car, later identified by police as a black Audi, approached the pair, and an occupant within the vehicle opened fire.
