Daniel Ortiz, a 23-year-old resident of Brooklyn, was tragically shot and killed on February 21, 2022, in the basement of a home located on Mexico Street in St. Albans, Queens. The incident occurred around 3:57 p.m. when officers from the 113th Precinct responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting. Upon arrival, they found Ortiz with multiple gunshot wounds to his shoulder, torso, and thigh. Despite being rushed to Jamaica Hospital, Ortiz succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
