In the spring of 2019, a burst of gunfire shattered the evening calm in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn, leaving a young man dead and a community searching for answers. The life of 29-year-old Jamal Cox Simms, a Black male, was abruptly cut short on May 16, 2019.
