Charles Reynoso, a 24-year-old Hispanic male from Brooklyn, New York, was fatally shot in the early morning hours of June 8, 2019. The incident occurred around 5 a.m. on West 166th Street in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan. Reynoso was in the company of four other people when they were approached by several men in an attempted robbery.
During the course of the robbery, Reynoso reportedly attempted to defend a friend by striking one of the assailants with a bottle. In response, one of the men shot Reynoso in the head. Emergency medical services transported him to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The entire incident was captured on a nearby surveillance camera. Reynoso, who was just a week away from his 25th birthday, had aspirations of opening a daycare center. His family described him as a loving individual.
The investigation into Reynoso's death led to the arrests of multiple suspects. Michael Gomez, 23, was identified as the gunman and was arrested and charged with murder. Subsequently, three other men, Lewis Rivas Grullon, 23, Ariel Muniz, 22, and Abraham Fiorentino, 24, were also arrested and faced charges of murder and robbery. Police also identified a fifth suspect, Kristopher Francisco, who was sought on murder charges. The family of Reynoso stated that police informed them the accused killers were members of the Trinitarios gang.
