Brentley Morgan, a 31-year-old male, was fatally shot in broad daylight while sitting in his parked Nissan sedan on Milford Street, near Dumont Avenue, directly across from his home. McFarlane, witnessed the horrific event. She heard the distinct sound of three gunshots and saw an unidentified assailant ambush her son. Officers from the 75th Precinct arrived to find Morgan with multiple gunshot wounds to his head and arms. Emergency responders rushed him to Brookdale Hospital, but his injuries proved to be too severe, and he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The motive for the shooting appears to stem from a dispute involving a neighbor. Reports indicate that a heated argument had taken place between a friend of Morgan's and this neighbor, a person described as having caused trouble in the community for some time.
