On the night of October 23, 2023, at approximately 11 p.m., 32-year-old Rick Cumberbatch was fatally shot in the lobby of his apartment building located on New York Avenue near Prospect Place in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Responding to reports of gunfire, police officers discovered Cumberbatch with multiple gunshot wounds to his head and body. He was promptly transported to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
