Kristal Bayron-Nieves, a 19-year-old cashier, tragically lost her life on January 9, 2022, during a robbery at a Burger King in East Harlem, Manhattan. The incident occurred around 12:45 a.m. when a suspect entered the restaurant, brandished a firearm, and demanded money. Despite complying with the robber's demands and handing over $100 from the cash register, Bayron-Nieves was shot in the torso.
