On February 12, 2022, Jamal Smith, a 28-year-old resident of New Rochelle, was tragically killed in a shooting incident in the Bronx. The incident occurred late at night on East 198th Street near Webster Avenue. Police responded to a 911 call and found Jamal Smith with a gunshot wound to the face. Alongside him was Arnold Oliver, a 24-year-old man from Peekskill, who had been shot in the torso. Both men were transported to St. Barnabas Hospital, where they were pronounced dead upon arrival.
