In the early hours of Labor Day, September 5, 2022, a burst of gunfire shattered the pre-dawn quiet at the Nostrand Houses in the Sheepshead Bay neighborhood of Brooklyn. When the chaos subsided, three men were found wounded, one of them fatally. Calvin Kellman, a 30-year-old man, had been shot in the chest. Emergency medical services arrived at the scene on Batchelder Street and rushed him to NYU Langone Hospital, but his injuries proved too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
