In the early hours of Labor Day, September 5, 2022, a burst of gunfire shattered the pre-dawn quiet at the Nostrand Houses in the Sheepshead Bay neighborhood of Brooklyn. When the chaos subsided, three men were found wounded, one of them fatally. Calvin Kellman, a 30-year-old man, had been shot in the chest. Emergency medical services arrived at the scene on Batchelder Street and rushed him to NYU Langone Hospital, but his injuries proved too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
Two other
men were also caught in the hail of bullets. A 28-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was taken to NYU Langone Hospital in stable condition. The third victim, a 30-year-old man, was shot in the right leg and transported to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, also in stable condition.
The New York City Police Department is actively investigating the triple shooting that cut Calvin Kellman's life short. As of the latest reports, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident, and the investigation remains ongoing. The motive for the shooting has not been publicly released by authorities, and no suspects have been identified or taken into custody.
