In the late hours of a Wednesday in Flatwoods, Kentucky, the life of 31-year-old Kurtis Carter, a man known for his love of helping others, was brought to a tragic and abrupt end. On November 3, 2021, Carter was fatally wounded in a shooting that would soon become the focus of a swift police investigation. A native of Huntington, West Virginia, he had built a life in Ashland, Kentucky, where he was a father to seven children.
