In the early hours of a Tuesday morning, the life of 17-year-old Chance Mosley was tragically cut short on a street in Rochester, New York. On November 1, 2022, police responded to a call on Weld Street and found the young man on the front porch of a house with a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the death of the male teenager quickly led authorities to a suspect, another teenager named Raymar Alexander, who was 16 years old at
the time of the shooting. The investigation revealed that an altercation had occurred between the two teenagers. During this confrontation, Alexander fired multiple shots, striking and killing Mosley. In the course of the incident, Alexander also sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Within a few days of the shooting, Raymar Alexander was arrested and charged in connection with Mosley's death. The case proceeded through the legal system, and in May 2024, then 18-year-old Raymar Alexander pleaded guilty to Manslaughter in the 1st Degree. As a result of his plea, he was sentenced to 17 years in prison, to be followed by five years of post-release supervision. The sentencing is scheduled to take place on July 19, 2024.
