Death by Force

John Dempsey, a 39-year-old Black male, was shot and killed in the early morning hours of October 11, 2025, on Bock Street off Bay Street in Rochester, New York. Officers responded around 3:30 a.m. to reports of gunfire and found Dempsey on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators quickly connected the violence to a nearby birthday party where an altercation among attendees spiraled into gunfire.
