In the autumn of 1991, a workplace shooting in Silver Spring, Maryland, claimed the life of 30-year-old Jose Escobar, a male resident of Hyattsville. The violent episode unfolded on the evening of November 13th at the Tischer Auto dealership, located in the 8200 block of Automobile Boulevard, where Escobar was employed as a custodian. He, along with a colleague, Maura Portillo, 39, were both shot during the incident.
