Manuel de Jesus Espina, a 43-year-old resident of Silver Spring, Maryland, tragically lost his life on August 16, 2008. Espina was fatally shot by Steven Jackson, an off-duty Prince George's County police officer who was moonlighting as a security guard at the time. The incident occurred in the basement of a Langley Park apartment building, where Jackson confronted Espina and several other men.
