On October 1, 2024, Christian Ortiz, an 18-year-old resident of Silver Spring, Maryland, was tragically shot and killed at Seek Lane Park, just one day before his 19th birthday. Montgomery County police officers responded to reports of a shooting around 9:45 p.m. near Barron Street and Domer Avenue, close to Rolling Terrace Elementary School. Upon arrival, they found Ortiz with an apparent gunshot wound to his upper chest in the playground area of the park.
