On October 23, 2023, at approximately 10:57 p.m., Montgomery County Police officers responded to a reported burglary in progress in the 14300 block of Fairdale Road in Silver Spring, Maryland. Upon arrival, they discovered 22-year-old Rakiy Deinol Gardner outside a residence, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Despite lifesaving efforts, Gardner was pronounced dead at the scene.
