In the late afternoon of September 14, 2024, a dispute in Silver Spring, Maryland, tragically escalated, ending the life of 35-year-old Carlos Alberto Ortiz. The male victim was discovered by Prince George's County Police officers in a wooded area on the 9200 block of New Hampshire Avenue around 4 p.m., suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the homicide led detectives to identify two suspects in connection with the fatal
shooting. William Jaminton Pavon-Mancock, 27, and Jimmy Hernandez-Morales, 24, both from Silver Spring, were subsequently arrested and charged with first and second-degree murder, along with other related charges. According to the preliminary investigation, it is believed that Pavon-Mancock had a prior acquaintance with Ortiz.
Authorities have indicated that the shooting occurred during a dispute between Pavon-Mancock and Ortiz. Following their arrests, both Pavon-Mancock and Hernandez-Morales were taken into custody and are being held by the Department of Corrections without bond as they await legal proceedings.
