Wayne Alan Lipford, a 43-year-old male, was fatally shot on the evening of Tuesday, October 14, 2008, in Prince George's County. The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. in the 5200 block of Flintridge Drive in Hyattsville, Maryland. Responding to a report of a shooting, police discovered Lipford on the ground with gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was a resident of the 3600 block of Pocono Place in Beltsville.
Two weeks after the shooting, on October 28, 2008, authorities arrested a
suspect in connection with the case. James Jacob Young, a 28-year-old resident of the 2800 block of Minnesota Avenue SE in Washington, D.C., was taken into custody. Young was subsequently charged with first-degree murder in Lipford's death.
Following his arrest, James Jacob Young faced legal proceedings for the murder of Wayne Lipford. However, the case did not result in a conviction. On July 6, 2009, Young was acquitted of the first-degree murder charge. He was subsequently released from custody. No further arrests or suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the death of Wayne Lipford.
