Sandeep Bhulai, a 26-year-old male, had just returned home from work on August 9, 2015, and was sitting in his car in Middle River when he was approached by a group of men. The men, who had reportedly come to the neighborhood with the intention of stealing a vehicle, pulled Bhulai from his car. They proceeded to rob him of his wallet and cellphone before shooting him multiple times with three different guns.
The assailants then fled the scene, leaving Bhulai's car behind.
Police responded to a call for a cardiac arrest shortly before 4:30 a.m. and discovered Sandeep Bhulai's body in a grassy area near Dark Head and Redthorn Roads. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation led by the Baltimore County Police Homicide Unit identified six suspects in connection with the murder.
Authorities charged six Baltimore men, ranging in age from 18 to 20, with first-degree murder. The suspects were identified as Keith Terrell Harrison, Michael Anthony Jobes, Hassan Emanuel Jones, Christian Tyson, Ramart Wilson, and Kareem Riley. One of the suspects, Riley, was apprehended in New York and awaited extradition to Maryland. In March 2017, a jury found Michael Jobes guilty of first-degree murder, armed robbery, and the use of a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence. He was subsequently sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, plus an additional 40 years.
