In the quiet early morning hours in Fort Washington, Maryland, a tragedy unfolded that would claim the lives of a young mother and her two-year-old daughter, Chloe Nichole Davis-Green. On February 2, 2016, as 26-year-old Neshante Alesha Davis was preparing to take her daughter to daycare, she was confronted in the parking lot of their condominium complex.
The encounter turned fatal when a gunman opened fire, striking both mother and child.
When Prince George's County police officers arrived at the scene on Palmer Road, they discovered Neshante Davis suffering from a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene. A short distance away, still secured in her car seat, was little Chloe, also critically injured by a gunshot. The toddler was rushed to a nearby hospital, but her injuries proved to be too severe, and she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The investigation into the double homicide quickly focused on a primary suspect: Chloe's father, 25-year-old Daron Maurice Boswell-Johnson of Forestville. Authorities learned that he and Neshante Davis had been involved in a dispute over child support payments. Just a month prior to the shooting, a judge had ordered Boswell-Johnson to pay $600 a month for Chloe's care. According to charging documents, Boswell-Johnson had been waiting for Neshante to leave her home that morning with the intention of confronting her about the child support petition.
Within a day of the murders, Daron Boswell-Johnson was arrested and charged with two counts of first and second-degree murder. During questioning by detectives, he admitted his involvement in the killings.
