Patricia Caniglia, aged 59, tragically lost her life on April 19, 2006, in Fort Washington, Maryland. On that fateful evening, Patricia and her adult son, Antonio, were at their home when an armed intruder broke in. The assailant confronted Patricia in an upstairs bedroom and fatally shot her in the head. Antonio, who was in the basement at the time, heard his mother's cries and armed himself with a shotgun. He confronted the intruder and shot him, resulting in the intruder's death.
