In the early morning hours of July 6, 2017, the life of 31-year-old Kenneth Edmonds of District Heights, Maryland, was tragically cut short. In the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 6600 block of Atwood Street, a verbal altercation between two groups of people took a fatal turn. As the dispute escalated, gunshots rang out, leaving two men lying on the ground with gunshot wounds.
When police responded to reports of the shooting, they discovered Edmonds and another man,
34-year-old Phillip Michael of Southeast D.C., both of whom were pronounced dead at the scene. The initial investigation pointed to the argument as the catalyst for the deadly violence.
A significant development in the case came with the arrest of 20-year-old Karon Moore from Forestville, Maryland. Moore was taken into custody and subsequently charged with both first and second-degree murder in connection with the double homicide. Investigators determined that Moore was part of the larger group involved in the argument that preceded the fatal shootings.
