On a December evening in District Heights, Maryland, a violent altercation in a parking lot left two men dead. The incident, which unfolded on Friday, December 6, 2024, claimed the life of 28-year-old Jonathan Jamal Williams of Washington, D.C.
Prince George's County police officers were called to the 6200 block of Surrey Square Lane around 9:25 p.m. for a report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, they discovered both Williams and 24-year-old Vernon Bond III, also from Washington, D.C., suffering from gunshot wounds in the parking lot. Both men were pronounced dead a short time later.
The preliminary investigation by detectives suggests that the two men, who were known to each other, were involved in an altercation that escalated to the point where they shot each other. As both individuals involved in the shooting were deceased at the scene, there were no suspects sought by police in connection with this double fatal shooting. Authorities have encouraged anyone with additional information about the incident to come forward and contact detectives.
