On the night of August 27, 2019, Beaudouin Tchakounte, a 46-year-old man, was working as an Uber driver in Oxon Hill, Maryland. An immigrant from Cameroon and a father of four, he was behind the wheel of his silver Mercedes-Benz with a passenger, 32-year-old Casey Xavier Robinson, already in the car. A request for an Uber Pool ride came through, and Tchakounte picked up a second passenger, Aaron Lanier Wilson Jr., 42, also of Oxon Hill.
Shortly after Wilson entered the vehicle around
9:45 p.m., a grim turn of events unfolded. For reasons that would later be attributed to being under the influence of PCP, Wilson opened fire inside the car, fatally shooting both Beaudouin Tchakounte and Casey Xavier Robinson. The shooting occurred on Indian Head Highway near Bald Eagle Road. After the shooting, Wilson fled the scene. Witnesses who saw the gunfire alerted the authorities, and Prince George's County police officers arrived to find both victims inside the vehicle with gunshot wounds; they were pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
The investigation into the double homicide led police to identify Aaron Lanier Wilson Jr. as the suspect. He was located and taken into custody. During questioning, Wilson admitted to being high on PCP at the time of the incident. Wilson was subsequently charged with first and second-degree murder in connection with the deaths of both men. In a later court proceeding, Aaron Wilson Jr. pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree murder. He was sentenced to 80 years in prison, with 30 years suspended, to be followed by five years of supervised probation.
