On the evening of November 30, 2023, a dispute on the road in Oxon Hill, Maryland, escalated into a fatal encounter for 47-year-old Neris Requeno Rodriguez of Temple Hills. At approximately 5:55 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 6000 block of Oxon Hill Road after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered Rodriguez inside a vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was transported to a local hospital for medical attention but succumbed to his injuries several hours later.
The preliminary investigation conducted by the Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit quickly pointed to a road rage incident as the catalyst for the shooting. Within days of the incident, authorities identified a suspect in the case.
Michael Derrington, a 46-year-old resident of Oxon Hill, was arrested in connection with the death of Neris Requeno Rodriguez. Following his arrest, Derrington was charged with first and second-degree murder, along with other related charges for his alleged involvement in the fatal road rage shooting. He was taken into the custody of the Department of Corrections.
