In the early hours of a Sunday morning in March 2015, the life of 29-year-old Anthony Letron Holden, a male resident of Seneca, South Carolina, was tragically cut short. An altercation that began inside Sonny's Bar and Grill on Wells Highway spilled out into the parking lot, escalating into gunfire. When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they discovered a chaotic situation with multiple victims. Holden had sustained a gunshot wound to his abdomen.
He was rushed to Oconee Memorial Hospital and later transferred to Greenville Memorial, but tragically succumbed to his injuries later that morning.
The investigation into Holden's death quickly focused on one primary suspect: Dw'Ntraquis Rashaad Campbell, a 30-year-old man from Greenwood. Authorities identified Campbell as the individual who allegedly fired the shots that not only killed Holden but also injured two other women and targeted another man who was not hit. The Oconee County Sheriff's Office promptly issued warrants for Campbell's arrest on charges of murder, three counts of attempted murder, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Investigators revealed that Campbell had a history of violent crime and was already wanted on outstanding warrants in both Greenwood County and Columbus, Georgia.
Following the shooting, a manhunt for Campbell was initiated. Law enforcement agencies described him as armed and dangerous and appealed to the public for any information that could lead to his capture. For nearly a year, Campbell remained a fugitive. The search came to an end in February 2016 when the U.S. Marshals Service, acting on a tip, located and apprehended him in Charlotte, North Carolina. Campbell was taken into custody without incident and was subsequently extradited back to Oconee County to face the charges brought against him in connection with the death of Anthony Letron Holden. Following his arrest, the legal process was set to begin, leaving a community to await justice for a life taken too soon.
