On a Sunday evening in Seneca, South Carolina, a meeting between two individuals ended in a fatal encounter that left both dead. Zema Darnell Fling, a 17-year-old male, was one of the two individuals who lost their lives on November 8, 2020. The incident unfolded along Tribble Street shortly after 7 p.m., shattering the evening's calm with the sound of gunfire.
When Seneca police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a grim tableau.
One of the victims was found lying on the ground, while the other was located on the opposite side of the road. The Oconee County Coroner's Office later identified the two deceased individuals as Zema Darnell Fling and 20-year-old Christopher Hunter Todd of Pickens. Both had sustained fatal gunshot wounds to their chests.
According to the investigation by the Seneca Police Department, the two had arranged to meet for the purpose of a gun sale. However, the transaction took a violent turn, leading to an altercation that resulted in the shooting. The interim police chief at the time stated that both individuals involved in the planned gun purchase were deceased, indicating that there were no outstanding suspects in the case. One of the males was pronounced dead at the scene, while Fling died in an ambulance en route to the hospital.
