On a Sunday evening in Seneca, South Carolina, a meeting between two young men ended in a fatal exchange of gunfire. Christopher Hunter Todd, a 20-year-old male from Pickens, was killed on November 8, 2020, succumbing to gunshot wounds to his chest at the scene on Tribble Street. The incident, which unfolded just after 7 p.m., also resulted in the death of 17-year-old Zema Darnell Fling of Seneca.
According to the Seneca Police Department, the two had arranged to meet for the purpose of
a gun sale. An altercation erupted during the transaction, leading to the shooting. When law enforcement arrived, they discovered one of the males on the ground and the other across the road. Fling was transported from the scene but died in an ambulance en route to the hospital.
Investigators believe that both individuals involved in the deadly dispute are now deceased. Authorities have not released information regarding any other suspects or potential arrests in connection with the case. The investigation has indicated that the incident was a result of the gun purchase that went tragically wrong.
Christopher Hunter Todd was remembered as an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also a skilled welder and machinist. He is survived by his parents and three brothers.
