In the early evening of December 3, 2022, the community of Longs, South Carolina, was shaken by a violent act that claimed the life of 24-year-old Cole D. Coleman. A Black male, Coleman was discovered by police near the intersection of Sandridge Loop and F T Lane around 5:50 p.m. The Horry County Coroner's Office later confirmed that he had died from a gunshot wound and officially ruled his death a homicide.
The Horry County Police Department immediately launched a homicide investigation
into the shooting. Despite their efforts, authorities have not yet publicly identified any suspects in the case, and no arrests have been made. Cole, who was born on May 9, 1998, in Florence, SC, was a resident of Conway and worked in pest control. Remembered for his smile, kind heart, and sense of humor, he was a loving son, brother, grandson, uncle, and boyfriend who enjoyed spending time with his family and close friends. His death has left his family and the local community in shock, all awaiting answers and hoping for justice to be served.
