In the early morning hours of Saturday, September 27, 2025, a burst of gunfire shattered the air at a rural drag strip in Longs, South Carolina, leaving a community to mourn a life cut short. Anadai Keel, a 29-year-old man from North Myrtle Beach, was killed in the sudden eruption of violence. He was attending an event at the North Myrtle Beach Drag Strip located on Star Bluff Road when the fatal incident occurred.
Keel was reportedly sitting inside his vehicle when he was struck by
gunfire. According to the Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner, he was pronounced dead at the scene just after midnight. The shooting prompted an immediate response from law enforcement, with the Horry County Police Department launching a homicide investigation into the matter.
As the investigation into the shooting continues, it remains unclear if any arrests have been made in connection with Keel's death. Authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or a potential motive for the shooting. The investigation is ongoing.
