In the quiet community of Longs, South Carolina, the life of 22-year-old Jamey DeSean Lewis was tragically cut short on the evening of March 3, 2014. Lewis sustained fatal injuries from multiple gunshot wounds in a violent encounter that unfolded around 7 p.m. on Star Bluff Road. First responders and police were dispatched to the area after receiving reports of gunfire, and upon arrival, they began an investigation into the grim event.
As the Horry County Police delved into the
circumstances surrounding the shooting, they discovered that Lewis had been brought to Sea Coast Medical Center by an unknown individual. It was there that he succumbed to what court records would later describe as 'massive hemorrhaging caused by multiple gunshot wounds.' While canvassing the neighborhood where the shots were reported, investigators were directed by a resident to the 2000 block of Star Bluff Road, where they found shell casings, confirming the location of the shooting.
The investigation quickly led to the identification of two suspects, both also from Longs. Tyrone Ford, 44, was apprehended the day after the shooting. His true identity was initially difficult to ascertain, as he had used several aliases. A second suspect, 27-year-old Robert Maurice Moody, was also arrested in connection with the crime.
An Horry County grand jury handed down indictments against both Moody and Ford, charging each with murder. Following his arrest, Ford was held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center without the possibility of bail. Moody was also incarcerated at the same facility, with his bail set at $175,000.
