On June 23, 2018, a violent incident occurred in Crocker, Missouri, resulting in the death of 23-year-old Lane William Kennedy. Kennedy, a White male resident of the area, was found deceased late that Saturday night at a property located on Brownsville Road in Pulaski County. Law enforcement officials were alerted to the situation shortly before midnight, prompting a response from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department to the scene of the reported shooting.
Upon their arrival at the residence in the 19000 block of Brownsville Road, deputies discovered Kennedy’s body, which had sustained fatal injuries. Authorities determined that the victim had been struck by shotgun fire, suffering wounds to his body that led to his death at the scene. The investigation was immediately treated as a homicide, with investigators securing the area to interview witnesses and collect evidence related to the confrontation that had taken place.
Ian Steven Miller, a 45-year-old man from Crocker, was identified as the primary suspect in the investigation. According to reports from the Sheriff’s Department, Miller was present when law enforcement arrived and allegedly admitted to deputies that he had shot Kennedy during an altercation between the two. Following this admission and the development of probable cause at the scene, Miller was taken into custody. He was subsequently charged with felony counts of first-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with Kennedy’s death and was held in the Pulaski County Jail on a $1 million bond.
