James Russell Sorrow, a 26-year-old police officer from Greenville, South Carolina, tragically lost his life on September 19, 1996. Officer Sorrow was attempting to serve a felony warrant on a 20-year-old suspect when the incident occurred. The suspect fled on foot, leading Officer Sorrow on a chase. During the pursuit, the suspect ambushed Officer Sorrow from behind a shed at the corner of Gower and Endel Streets.
