In the spring of 2020, the life of 19-year-old Kashus Campbell was tragically cut short in Saint Louis, Missouri. On the last day of March, police were called to the 5000 block of Maple Avenue, situated in the Academy/Sherman Park neighborhood. There, they discovered the young man's body inside a car; he had been fatally shot.
Investigators with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department soon came to believe that the scene on Maple Avenue was not where the shooting had occurred.
Evidence suggested that Campbell had been shot about a mile away, on the 4100 block of 22nd Street, and his body was subsequently moved in the vehicle to the location where he was ultimately found.
The investigation into the death of Kashus Campbell led to a significant development in early June of that year. An arrest was made in connection with the homicide. Thomas Williams, a resident of St. Louis, was taken into custody.
Following his arrest, the St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Office brought formal charges against Williams. He was charged with first-degree murder for his alleged role in Campbell's death. In addition to the murder charge, Williams also faced charges of armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm. Upon his charging, Williams was ordered to be held without bond.
