In the summer of 2022, a dispute over missing drugs in the Carondelet neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri, turned deadly, claiming the life of 19-year-old Marcus Terrell Calvin. On the morning of August 12th, gunfire erupted in the 6100 block of Alaska Avenue, leaving both Calvin and another young man, 21-year-old Ty'rell Bradley, with fatal injuries.
The incident, which occurred around 11:45 a.m., cut short the lives of two individuals and prompted a swift police investigation into the double homicide.
Authorities worked to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting. The investigation pointed to a disagreement over narcotics as the catalyst for the violence that unfolded on that late summer morning. As detectives delved deeper into the case, they were able to identify individuals believed to be responsible for the deaths of Calvin and Bradley, leading to subsequent arrests and the filing of serious charges against them.
In connection with the double homicide, two men were taken into custody. Ivyon R. Houston, who was 20 years old at the time, faced the most severe charges, including two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action. Another suspect, 23-year-old Qwanzell Watkins, was also charged in the case with two counts of second-degree murder. The charges brought against both men marked a significant development in the pursuit of justice for Marcus Terrell Calvin and Ty'rell Bradley.
