Leslie Ross, a 52-year-old woman from Dayton, Ohio, was found dead in a home on Golden Arrow Court in Miamisburg on the night of March 12, 2025. Authorities responded to a call reporting a shooting at approximately 9:30 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered Ross with multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators later determined that she had been shot five times.
The suspect in the case, 32-year-old Demetrius Turner, was identified shortly after the incident. Turner had reportedly met Ross within the last couple of weeks before the shooting. According to police records, a witness inside the home heard Ross plead, "Don't do it. No!" before hearing what he initially thought were slapping noises. However, he later realized they were gunshots. Another resident, who was in the basement shower at the time, reported hearing the commotion but did not see Ross before the shooting occurred.
Following the shooting, Turner fled the scene, prompting a 13-hour manhunt involving multiple law enforcement agencies, drones, and K9 units. Authorities eventually located Turner in West Carrollton around 12:16 p.m. on March 13, 2025, after a couple spotted him walking down the street and called 911. He was taken into custody without incident. After his arrest, Turner complained of chest pains and was transported to a local hospital before being booked into the Montgomery County Jail.
Turner has been charged with two counts of murder, two counts of felonious assault, and additional charges including grand theft, tampering with evidence, and aggravated possession of drugs. He also faces a misdemeanor assault charge. During his arraignment, Turner pleaded not guilty to all charges. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including any prior interactions between Ross and Turner.
