Lynsie Davis, a 32-year-old woman from Fairborn, Ohio, tragically died on July 23, 2017, in Miamisburg, Ohio. She was fatally shot at the Hawthorn Suites hotel in Miami Township, just off Interstate 75, near Dayton. According to a 911 caller, the shooting appeared to be accidental. Davis was showing a gun to a man when it discharged, leading to her death. The coroner’s office did not immediately release information from her autopsy.
The man suspected in the shooting, 35-year-old Matthew Glass from Beavercreek, Ohio, was jailed on suspicion of reckless homicide pending a formal charge. Glass was later indicted on charges of reckless homicide, negligent homicide, and tampering with evidence. Prosecutors stated that Glass picked up a semi-automatic handgun, removed the magazine, and then pointed the gun at Davis, pulling the trigger and fatally shooting her. Glass fled the hotel room, while another female present called 911 and also left the room.
In June 2018, Glass was indicted in connection with Davis's death. He also had a pending case from September 2017, when he was indicted on two drug charges. Glass has a warrant out for his arrest and was due in court for an arraignment.
The tragic incident has led to legal proceedings against Glass, with the Montgomery County Prosecuting Attorney's office handling the case. The investigation revealed that Glass had a history of drug-related charges, adding complexity to the case.
