On the night of Friday, April 19, 2024, a violent incident claimed the life of 29-year-old Dominic Horton in St. Louis, Missouri. The shooting occurred in the Jeff-Vander-Lou neighborhood, a community in the northern section of the city. At approximately 10:30 p.m., officers from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department responded to calls reporting gunfire near the intersection of Aldine Avenue and North Spring Avenue.
Upon arrival at the 3700 block of Aldine Avenue, first responders discovered the Black male victim lying on the sidewalk.
Horton had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his head, arms, and right leg. Despite the arrival of emergency personnel, he was pronounced dead at the scene. He was a resident of the city, living nearby in the 4000 block of Penrose Street. Those who knew him described him as a respectful gentleman and a rising artist within the local creative community. His death was part of a particularly violent week in St. Louis, which saw several other homicide investigations launched within days of his killing.
