Lemuel R. Boyce, a 32-year-old police officer with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, tragically lost his life on March 31, 1907, while attempting to arrest a burglary suspect. Officer Boyce had officially retired earlier that day but was finishing his final shift when he responded to a burglary call outside his assigned beat.
