On October 25, 2021, Brandon Owens Jr., a 22-month-old toddler from Canton, Ohio, tragically died after accidentally being shot in the face with an unsecured firearm found inside his home. The incident occurred when Brandon and another toddler, almost 3 years old, discovered the gun, which discharged and struck Brandon. Despite immediate medical attention at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Medical Center, Brandon was pronounced dead at 7:08 p.m. that evening.
