In a tragic turn of events, 19-year-old Logan Shank, a male, lost his life in a shooting incident on the evening of Wednesday, November 18, 2020. The fatal event occurred inside a South Kansas City apartment located in the 11300 block of Montgall Avenue. Shank was in the bedroom of another 19-year-old, Graham Dill, reportedly watching television when the shooting took place. Others in the apartment heard a single gunshot and discovered Shank with a severe wound.
Despite being rushed to a local hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.
Following the incident, police arrested Graham Dill in connection with Shank's death. Investigators found Dill at the scene, and he was described as being disoriented and incoherent. During his arrest and subsequent questioning, he made statements such as, 'Did I not kill this kid.' Witnesses reported that they did not hear any argument or altercation between Dill and Shank before the shot rang out. A search of Dill's bedroom uncovered a handgun, a spent 9 mm shell casing, and a large bag of what authorities believed to be psychedelic mushrooms. Detectives suspected that Dill was under the influence of narcotics at the time of the shooting.
The Jackson County Prosecutor's Office formally charged Graham Dill with second-degree murder and armed criminal action. Prosecutors requested a cash bond of $250,000. The case against Dill proceeded through the legal system, based on the evidence collected at the scene and the accounts of the witnesses present in the apartment.
